Panama city,  Pearl islands, Mountain Spas   and more...

We have designed this trip for the client with a more discerning palate.  We still visit the exotic and beautiful places of Panama, but we do so with a higher level of comfort.  From Panama City to the islands, beaches and mountains there is never a dull day.

Sea Breezes to Pina Coladas!!

  • Taste of the Tropics Tour

A full day to explore what this fantastic city has to offer before we take a 15 minute flight to the Pearl Islands, home of the world's largest pearl and some beautiful (and quiet) white sand beaches. The place Panama's elite come to play.

Back on the mainland, no trip would be complete without a stop in El Valle, a volcanic crater valley.  Our Pacific coast stop is Santa Catalina.  This once sleepy town has come alive as the gateway to Isla Coiba, THE Pacific dive/snorkel site in Panama (and Central America) and world renowned for its deep sea fishing and surfing.

We cool off at the mountain retreat of Cerro Punta complete with spa and food fresh from the fields of Panama's fruit basket.  Go hiking, learn about orchids at a world renowned orchid garden, ride horses or get pampered at the spa before we're off to Boquete either hiking the Quetzal trail or driving around. Here you can check out a coffee plantation, golf, and enjoy our favorite restaurant in Panama.

Soak in some hot springs and dip in the refreshing Chiriqui river before arriving at the eco-lodge on Bastimentos Island, Bocas del Toro.  Sail, snorkel, dive or just hit the beach.

Our journey ends with a scenic flight back to Panama City before we head out onto the Armador for unforgettable views of this rapidly changing city skyline and the Bridge of the Americas.

Taste of the Tropics Itinerary

Saturday, Day 1

Make your way to the starting hotel in Panama City and prepare for our adventure.

Sunday, Day 2

We have a full day to explore the fantastic city! Starting with the  Miraflores Locks on the Panama Canal, watching the ships roll in... on to Culebra Island (owned by the Smithsonian) where we can see sloths, monkeys, and some of Panama's marine life while learning about the history of Panama, the canal, and the ships that will be passing through. Lunch on the Amador Causeway with fantastic views of the city skyline before a final stop in old town (Casco Viejo).

Monday, Tuesday Days 3 & 4

A short flight to the Pearl Islands for 2 days of fun in the sun. Dive, snorkel, take a glass bottom boat tour or just kick back and relax!

Wednesday, Day 5

The El Valle stop with waterfalls, mud bath, a great hike (with a view of both oceans!), spa treatments and more...

Thursday, Friday Days 6 & 7

Off to Santa Catilina to grab some beach time in the afternoon before the next day's adventures! Dive or snorkel around Coiba National Park and hike some of the hidden trails on the island. Learn to surf or catch the one that didn't get away....

Saturday, Sunday, Days 8 & 9

Fresh air, fresh food, and refreshing spa treatments complement the 2 National Parks that surround us here in the mountains near Cerro Punta.  Oh, and there is much more... the orchid farms (over 2000 species), birds (over 600 species, including countless humming birds and the Quetzal), waterfalls, horseback riding, mountain biking, and hiking.

Monday, Tuesday, Days 10 & 11

Getting to Boquete gives us some options.  Choose to either hike the Quetzal trail, descending through the cloud forest from 1800 meters to 1200 meters while keeping your eyes open in the search of birds, or driving around, everyone's personal preferences can be met!

Once in Boquete the options keep coming.  Be adventurous and fly through the rain forest canopy on zip lines, go white water rafting, ride horses in the cloud forest or try rock climbing!  Choose the more relaxed options and take a coffee tour, hit the links, visit a wildlife rehabilitation center or enjoy the laid back atmosphere in town.

Wednesday, Thursday, Days 12 & 13 Bastimentos is a less visited island in Bocas del Toro, perfect for this tour. We have the option of doing an all day catamaran sailing/snorkeling trip, just relaxing in a hammock on one of the beaches, or taking one of the many other tours offered in the archipelago.  There is no wrong choice..

Friday, Day 14

The scenic flight back to Panama City is followed by our last night's dinner out on the Armador.  Enjoy views of the skyline and Bridge of the Americas all lit up at night!

Saturday, Day 15

Fly home if you have to...
