Panama City

Panama City has a lot to offer tourists and often times it helps to have a little guidance.

See a little bit of everything Panama has to offer with the help of our friendly guides.

Let us take you on a tour through Panama City on our Panama City and Canal Tour.

The day begins by picking you up from your hotel or from the Barefoot Panama meeting point in Casco Viejo.

The first destination is at the top of Cerro Ancon where picturesque views overlooking Panama City are sure to leave you awed. Cerro Ancon was where the high ranking US military officers lived, and is a nature reserve right in Panama City where you can see a wide variety of wildlife: deer, iguanas, monkeys, sloths, and ñeques.

Then we visit the Miraflores locks on the Panama Canal and watch monstrous cargo ships pass through. The Miraflores locks has a covered terrace to view all the activity on the locks and the ships being guided into the narrow channel by locomotive ‘mules’. The Panama Canal Visitor Center also has a museum, restaurant and gift shop.

There is a brief tour of an artisan market that provides you with an additional opportunity to purchase gifts for loved ones at home. Here you will find craft produce from several of Panama’s indigenous Indian tribes, as well as Panama gifts and the famous Panama hat.

Our tour then takes lunch at a restaurant on the Amador Causeway.

Next on the agenda is an exploration of and exploration of the Punta Culebra Nature Center run by the prestigious Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. There is a nature trail and a series of buildings forming a museum of marine life. This provides ample opportunities to snap photos.

We finish the day in Casco Viejo, where a guided walking tour provides you with insight into this breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you’re not ready to head back to your hotel consider continue your evening in Casco, grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many local restaurants, or taking a quick Spanish lesson from the Casco Antiguo Spanish School.
